Unlike other airspace areas such as Phoenix or Southern California, which are extremely congested, the airspace surrounding Tucson is open and uncrowded, the practice areas are within a few minutes of the airport and flight-following radar services are always available and utilized. Ryan Airport is 10 nm away offering ILS, NDB and GPS approaches. In addition, Tucson Approach will accommodate practice approaches into Tucson International if requested.
